Needed: ICC Representatives!

Hello, everyone! Hope everyone is doing well their first three weeks of school!

For this message, this will only concern Nursing 05 students more than the Nursing 04 students as of right now. By the time we switch around, the students who are going into Nursing 05 will see this message again!


For Nursing 05 Tuesday-Wednesday Clinical Groups:

SNA is looking for students to becoming ICC representatives. Because my schedule doesn't permit me to go to every single ICC meeting, we're going to need help! What the ICC does is basically have all the clubs come together and talk about what each club is doing. The SNA MUST have a representative or the SNA will not be recognized as a club by Delta College. The ICC meetings are every 1st and 3rd meeting of every month at 1330 (1:30PM) at Shima 101 (by the elevators). This semester, the chairman is very good at ending the meeting at 1500 (3:00PM). As of right now, I'll be able to go to this week's meeting, but afterwards, we're going to need your guys' help!

ICC & Club Rush

Hello, everyone. Hope all of you are enjoying your first week back at school. Again, thank you to all who had volunteered for the welcoming tea. Despite the chaotic start, it went through somewhat smoothly, which was more than I can hope for!

As everyone knows, the SNA is a club for us student nurses. For us to continue to be a club, one person or people must go to a meeting called the Inter Council Club Meeting, or ICC for short. Currently, I'm going to the first one of the semester. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to go to ALL the meetings throughout the semester and would like some volunteers. If you would like more information about the ICC and its meetings, let me know at hawaiianpnai1189@sbcglobal.net and I'll connect you to our SNA president, Debbie or if it's basic information, I can let you know.

Another issue is that because of the ICC, the SNA must attend the Club Rush each semester, which for this semester is going to be on August 31st - September 4th. I believe we only need to attend one day out of the five days and should be there the whole day from 8am-11am. Throughout the day, you would talk to potential nursing students and about the club. Welcome Tea Slideshow

Hey everyone. This was the slideshow video shown at the welcome tea. If anyone was underrepresented, I apologize. I was not allowed to use certain images due to the changes in the program (injections, NGs, IVs) which is what most people had images of. Also, I wasn't given many images of certain clinical groups at all. So I tried to make do with what I had and tried to add in as many people as possible.

National Student Nurses Association Meeting

August 31- Meet Board Members, up and coming events, Interclub Council reps committees to sign up for, and NSNA National Convention this October in Sacramento. Guest Speakers: Robin Shum from Student Success Office, Ginger Manss R.N., MSN, AOCN From St. Joseph’s Hospital, Ginger is our Regional Director for the National Student Nurses Association. She will discuss the NSNA, Our National Convention this October in Sacramento. Errisa Santiago and AJ Arriola on class blogs.

September 21- Committee Members, current events, Bocce Tournament Guest Speakers Bonnie Boss on her Blog as a tutorial for NCLEX and N-1 thru 10 study info. Passing the NCLEX and Critical Care Specialist Certification she just passed. Trina Eagle on NCLEX Reviews, study tips she took to pass her boards with only 75qts. Interview questions she was given during her interviews. Angela Aistrup and Debbie O’Sullivan on Palms and Software for them.

October 19- Come and learn how to write a resume for future employers. Learn how to answer and conduct yourself in an interview. Handouts will be given on possible interview questions for future employment and student nurse extern positions. Guest speaker TBA

November 16- Elections for Spring Officers, Award nominations, Family Ties X-mas Fundraiser, Current Events, Guest Speaker from Stanislaus State University on their BSN and MSN programs. Hurst and ATI Reviews

December 7- Final Meeting. Announce new club officers, Family Ties X-mas, Current Events, Guest Speakers from Dameron Hospital Roberta Boshears Director of their Versant Program. Lori Hines Educational Director, and Erin Shelby R.N. Graduate of SJSU 2008 and recent graduate of Dameron Hospital Versant program.

CPK Fundraiser

Student Nurses' Association would like to invite you to our CPK Fundraiser!

When: Thursday August 13th 2009
Time: Beginning at 10am and lasting all day
Where: California Pizza Kitchen in Stockton (located across the street from the college)
*Please bring the attached flyer and present it to your server when ordering and the NSNA will receive 20% of your bill!

California Pizza Kitchen has graciously opened their restaurant to us 1 hour before they open to the public. This will give us time to order our food, catch up with each other/get to know new students, exchange books, buy uniform patches or learn some important information from more seasoned students. At this fundraiser the SNA will be selling uniform patches (3 patches for $15), SNA hooded sweatshirts $35, zipped sweatshirts $40 and fleece jackets $45. In addition, the SNA has been fortunate to have “Scrubs” (a uniform store located in Stockton) donate several items that we will be raffling off as door prizes at 11:00am for those student that are present at that time. We hope to see most of you there because events such as these is a great way to network with students in other semesters but also with some of your fellow classmates. Most returning students will tell you...”You need to have some friends in this program that will help you out when you need it the most!”
