N3 (Pharmacology) STUDY GROUP NEEDED

Hey y'all. I got an e-mail from Josh.  As many of you already know, there's a Pharm test this Monday. Grades

Hey grades are up for the NURS 01 exam. I see a lot of A's, B's and C's. See, you didn't do as bad as you thought you did! Heck, some people straight-up aced the exam.

Grades can be found HERE. The list of grades is in Microsoft Excel format so make sure your computer is able to open .xls files.

If I don't report very much on NURS 03 (Pharmacology), my bad. It's because I'm not taking the class so I don't know what's going on.  If anyone who's taking the class like to contribute to the blog please let me know.

Did that work?  No?  Just remember, there's still a bunch of class left, so keep doing the extra written assignments and study hard.  If you passed, be happy, because not everyone was as fortunate as you were.

STUDY HELP

I found a good place to help understand the book.  I know the Potter & Perry book and CD has some incorrect and inconsistent material and questions, so I tried looking up for some fixes.  If you didn't know already, check out https://evolve.elsevier.com/productPages/s_1479.html

This site is the online companion and resource of the book.  It has corrected the questions from the CD and book, has multiple learning games, audio summaries, videos and more.  To start taking advantage of this resource, click the "Register for these Resources" button on the right.  Make sure you are on the right page and it shows the Potter & Perry Fundamentals book 7th ed. on the left. You'll have to register, but you don't have to include very important information.

PDA Talk

Hey everybody.  I know there is some discussion about PDAs and where to get them.  Teachers have different opinions on them, but as we start clinicals soon, a single electronic device is easier to lug around than a set of books.  But then again, to each his or her own. I've been shopping at the site Amazon.com for years and have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars, and they are a very reputable site with very good prices.  I bought my PDA from them recently as well.

Here's a few of the recommended PDAs for the program, including the Palm TX,  the HP Ipaq 111, and the iPod Touch.  You don't have to pay tax and shipping is free if you choose Super Saver Shipping and your order is $25 or more.  You have an option of buying from Amazon or Amazon sellers, but I tend to go with Amazon the site as you'll at least know who you'll be dealing with and what you'll be getting.  Keep an eye on the prices as they fluctuate regularly.   I personally chose the HP Ipaq  111 because support for Palm is waning (they are no longer making PDA only handhelds, only PDA phones) and if you are used to Windows, then getting used to Windows Mobile will be easy, as pocket pc's like the Ipaq utilize that operating system.  With Apple you have to subscribe every year to Skyscape to utilize the nursing programs they created.  I personally would rather buy it once and quickly. Subscriptions can be quite pricy if you keep 'em going for a few years.

As far as expansion of storage space, I don't believe many of you will need a big change.  The Apple iTouch and iPhone products already have internal drive space  of several GBs, so if you have one of those you don't need anything. Unless you plan on putting tons of videos and music files, a 1 GB card will be fine.  Installing almost all pertinent Skyscape programs will net far less than 1 GB.  Lucky for you, the prices of electronics fall over time, and the 1 GB SD card is pretty hard to find.  The good thing about that is 2 GB SD cards are a lot cheaper and have taken their place. If you do decide to use a larger card, make sure the PDA you use can handle it.  The cards come in forms of SD, SDHC, SDmicro and so on.  The Palm TX for example can only handle up to a 2GB SD card and not 4GB SDHC card.  If you aren't tech savvy, everything I have just said must sound like jumbled sets of nonsense.  If anyone needs help with PDAs, Mr. Meza is very knowledgeable.  I'm also here if anyone has any questions.

Let's Get It Started!!!

Hey, everybody.  This is AJ from your class of 2010.  You know, that handsome, short Filipino guy? :)  I decided to start up our class's blog since no one else has... haha.  Anyway, it goes without saying but congratulations on making it into the ADN program.  You are the cream of the crop, so be proud (but not cocky or arrogant, please!).

This is the site where our class can post any questions, links,  pictures and just about anything else that has to do with our classes and the profession of nursing.  I'll try and update the blog as much as time permits me with all sorts of helpful goodies.  Well... at least I hope I do.  Heh.  Again, if anyone would like to post anything, e-mail me at my new e-mail of ajarriola7@gmail.com.  I have another e-mail that I use, but it was made in highschool and I don't think I want you all making fun of me for it.
