Welcoming Tea Update

I have an update about the welcoming tea!

We got permission from Ms. Cheri Wells to put up a SMALL raffle and slideshow for the welcoming tea! So, here are the details:

Details about the slideshow is being handled as I post this blog. Hopefully, we'll have AJ create a small slideshow for the semester one nursing students. If you have any pictures and haven't posted them up or send them to AJ, please send them if you want them to be shared with the nursing students. Because it'll be small, not all of the pictures will be shown in the presentation.

As for the raffle, I need help! I'm going to need 3 raffle prizes. If anyone would like to donate (i.e. book or an extra pen light), it would be really appreciated. If someone gets a hold of a medical supply company they know of, please let Jennifer or me know if you were able to get donations. The SNA are already in the process of talking to the Scrubs supply store in Stockton about donations for the CPK. Also, I will be talking to the Weber's Medical Supply Store tomorrow morning if they would like to donate. So, please don't call these places :) I would really appreciate it. If we get more than 3 donations, I will be splitting up the donated items into 3 prizes for the raffle. More the merrier, right?

Also, I'm still looking for a student speaker. If you want to do this or have a fellow classmate in mind who is a great speaker and would like to talk about his/her experience in semester one, please contact Jennifer or me ASAP. If it's just one speaker, they have 10 minutes. If it's two, 5 minutes per speaker. I'm just looking for 1 or 2 speakers :)

Finally, I will be out of town, starting this Saturday (August 1st). I will not have any internet access whatsoever, so if you have any questions or concerns or anything else, please contact Jennifer (from Kaiser in Manteca) at smilealways803@yahoo.com. If you need me personally, she can get in contact with me :)

Hey everyone. I had to delete some posts ranging from ATI passwords to those online tutorials. Other people were utilizing the materials that were created specifically for our class. Sorry.

Upcoming SNA Events

Hello, everyone again :) I have some information from the SNA. They are happy to announce that they are doing another CPK fundraising on August 13, 2009 (Thursday) at 10:00.

10:00? Isn't the mall open at 11:00? Yes, but CPK is generous enough to give SNA an hour before the mall open for us to do as a group. You can still order before 11:00, which I heard CPK prefers. During this hour, we can exchange books with the 1st/3rd/4th semester nursing students or ask for advice on upcoming classes, which is going to very helpful for Nursing 4!

Again, like last time, SNA is going to get 20% from CPK, which includes alcoholic drinks! Yet, in order to get that 20%, you MUST bring a flyer to CPK, which will be uploaded on the SNA blogsite soon:

I'll update once I have more official information from the SNA.

There's also a second event, which is before the CPK fundraiser. It's called "Music in the Park", which is being held on August 5, 2009 (Wednesday). It will be at Victory Park from 1800-2000 (6-8PM). It is a picnic event so bring food. Again, this could be a time for book exchanges and get some advice from the other semsters or give advice to the incoming nursing students. At this event, SNA is going to be handing out flyers for the CPK fundraiser so get one before you leave!

Again, I'll update this information when I get more from the SNA.

Any Volunteers?

Hello everyone :) So far I have 11-12 volunteers for the Welcoming Tea from Lodi, Kaiser, Doctor's, St. Joe's, and Tracy. Anybody from San Joaquin General Hospital want to volunteer? As for the other groups, I would love for you all to come if possible. Please let me know two weeks before so I can send a list to Mrs. Thompson of the volunteers. Again, if anyone wants to speak out in the Welcoming Tea, let me know ASAP! Again, here's the information:

Dameron Clinical Site Requirements (UPDATED)

Requirements for Students going to Dameron Hospital

Hi Judy,

I have been receiving many calls from Delta Students asking about the clinical requirements. Please let them know the following:

• One TB Test within a year of their start date
• One TB Test within two months of their start date
• A drug screening within a year
• Proof of immunity for Rubella, Rubeola, and Varicella
• Hep B & C Screening

Please ask them to turn in proof of these requirements to the Delta Nursing Office. Human Resources (HR) will not take copies, as we do not keep medical documents on file.

If the students would like to complete any of those requirements at Dameron Hospital's Occupational Health Clinic they can do so. The students can call (209) 242-3196 to set-up an appointment. When they call they must know what they need and let Occupational Health know that they are a student.

** Please Note: Even though a student may be completing their required testing at Dameron's Occupational Health Clinic, they still need to take the results to the Delta Nursing Office..

The students also need to come into HR prior to their start date. When they come to HR they need to have with them their actual CPR certification, not a copy of it. At that time we will have them fill out some paperwork and take their badge photo. They do not need to call to set- up a time, as there are many students coming in for the next rotation. Human Resources is open Monday through Friday 7 am to 5 pm.

Hey everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying their last full month of Summer-tastic vacation. Next month we gotta get the ball rollin' once again. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure everyone is checking their delta e-mail on a regular basis. I haven't recently and boom there's one that I missed.
